Top Sites to Make You Better
Posted by Doug | Filed under Uncategorized
I only recently stumbled across this site and this article in particular which list 100 sites that inspire you to becoming a better person. The list is truly awsome and anyone would be well advised to check out these sites regularly.
The article starts by listing the top 10 sites which, it claims, are ‘must read’ sites and I’d tend to agree with their choice.
Then it goes on to cite sites that will help you;
- achieve your dreams or goals
- work better or be more productive
- motivation and personal development
- Being happy or finding happiness
- giving back or making a contributio to society or the world
- spiritual awareness
- simplicity, downshifting or simplifying life
- financial planning
- healthy mind
- and, a healthy body
Like I said, the site is well worth a visit. The article will undoubtedly list sites you already know and visit but it is also likely to point you to new sites you did not know existed.

What’s Stopping You?
Posted by Doug | Filed under Life Dev
I stumbled upon a new site (new to me that is) which had an interesting post on ways of getting around roadblocks. No, not physical road blocks on the actual road but obstacles or circumstances that hold you up in life.
The site is called Life Dev and the post can be found here.
What I liked about the post is that it gives you 5 solid tips to help you get over these ‘roadblocks’. Tips such as;
- see the roadblock as an opportunity
- use it as an opportunity to get more creative
- engage others
- be willing to negotiate
- remain optimistic
Most of these are things we have heard before but the one tip that grabbed my attention was ‘be willing to negotiate’.
The author says, “When the roadblock is another person, the process may take a bit longer and it may be more challenging. You’ve not only got to arrive at a solution that is workable for you, but one that is also workable for the other person as well. You’ve got to negotiate.”
This stuck more as it is very much in line with the Success Intelligence approach put forward by Robert Holden in his book of the same name. Basically, you need to understand the other person, discover what their goals are and then be prepared to help them work toward their goals and also enlist them in helping you toward yours (even if that is only by removing the roadblock they currently present).
When you are prepared to negotiate, you can start to find areas in which you can work together, areas in which you may be able to compromise and also identify those areas in which no compromise can be made. As a result of which, bith of you are better able to progress.
So this article is well worth a read, especially if you are at a stage in your life where you feel you cannot move forward because you are being blocked by the ‘roadblocks’ in your way.
